Guru Gopalan’s School of Drums held their second. Level 3 graduation on 10 April. The ceremony was held at the uMhlanga Hindu Society in Somerset Park. The school is headed by renowned local musician Deshan “styler” Naidoo and holds weekly tabla lessons for children and adults

Ten year old Yashan Moodly graduated to level 3, joining 8 of his colleagues who graduated in the inaugural batch in August 2020. The ceremony saw Yashan being ushered in by his parents and flanked by his fellow level 3 colleagues.

Guru Deshan paid homage to Yashan’s diligence and congratulated his parents for their influence. “This is a milestone achievement for Yashan, as he is the youngest achieve this level and joined Tabla School at the tender age of 5.” said Guru Deshan.

Aspiring to level 3 is top of the list for all students of the school, as it involves many years of practical and theoretical training according to a rigorous curriculum. This curriculum has been crafted by Guru Deshan Naidoo from years of tutoring and his extensive knowledge as a musician.
